Interesting impact with the textures on top of it. Makes good use of the structure of the stones, though I think that even in simple black and white it'd be quite interesting. It's called "Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe" though, by the way. It's not a warrior memorial.
The colour tone used is purely a personal choice. I just felt that it added a little to the original black and white version, as did the inclusion of the textures.

Sure it did, my comment was not meant to counterdict that I was simply wondering whether a "normal photo" without Photoshop magic would have had a similar impact. In any case, an interesting use of the structure of the monument.
